Trim extra margins and white space from the edges of your PDF pages. Enter how much to cut from the top, right, bottom and left in millimeters, choose which pages to crop, and download the result. It's handy for scans with wide borders and for slides with empty space around them.
How to crop a PDF
- Click Choose PDF or drag a PDF into the upload box.
- Under Trim from each edge, enter how many millimeters to cut from the top, right, bottom and left. 10 mm is about 3/8 inch.
- In Pages to crop, leave it empty to crop every page, or type pages like
1-3, 5. - Click Crop PDF and check the preview.
- Click Download PDF. You'll need a PearSign account to download. New accounts must verify their email before signing in.
When to use it
- Removing wide scanner borders or dark edges from scanned pages
- Cutting white space around slides or charts so they're easier to read on screen
- Making pages a consistent size before you merge them with other documents
- Trimming printer marks or headers you don't want to show
Good to know
- The same trim applies to every page you choose. To crop different pages by different amounts, run the tool once for each group.
- Cropping hides, it doesn't delete. The trimmed edges are hidden from view but may still be in the file. Don't use cropping to remove sensitive information.
- Basic limits: one PDF per job, up to 25 MB and 200 pages. Margins can't remove the whole page.
- Password-protected PDFs aren't supported. Upload an unlocked copy.
- Privacy: your PDF is sent to PearSign's servers to apply the crop. The result is available for one hour, and you can delete it sooner.
- Account: cropping and previewing are free. Downloading needs a PearSign account (5 jobs per hour with the basic allowance).
- New accounts: signup directs you to a card-required 7-day Starter trial checkout. See pricing and trial terms. The one-hour result window continues during checkout and email verification; if it expires, upload your file again.
FAQ
How do I crop the margins of a PDF?
Upload the PDF, enter how many millimeters to trim from each edge, and click Crop PDF. Preview the first page to check the result before you download.
Can I crop only certain pages?
Yes. Type the pages in Pages to crop, for example 2-4. Other pages keep their original size.
Does cropping remove content from the PDF?
No. Cropping changes what's visible on the page, but the trimmed area may still exist in the file. To hide text inside the page, use a different method. Cropping isn't a redaction tool.
How do I convert millimeters to inches?
25.4 mm equals 1 inch, so 10 mm is about 3/8 inch and 6 mm is about 1/4 inch.
