Make your changes first. Downloading requires a PearSign account. New accounts start a card-required 7-day trial; see pricing for renewal terms.

Need to fix a typo, add a logo or mark up a PDF? Upload the file and edit it right in your browser. You can change existing text, add new text and images, highlight or strike through lines, and add, delete or rotate pages. There's nothing to install, and you see every change on the page as you make it.

How to edit a PDF

  1. Click Choose PDF or drag a PDF into the upload box. The editor opens.
  2. Pick a tool from the sidebar: Edit text to change a line already on the page, Add text for new text, Image to place a picture or logo, or one of the Draw and Mark up tools.
  3. Use the page thumbnails to rotate, duplicate or delete pages, or to insert a blank page.
  4. When you're done, click Finish editing. PearSign builds your edited PDF and shows a preview.
  5. Click Download PDF. If you aren't signed in yet, create a PearSign account first. Results remain available for one hour, including time spent signing up. New accounts must verify their email before signing in.

When to use it

  • Fixing a wrong date, name or number in a PDF you don't have the original file for
  • Adding a logo, a photo or a short note to a document before you share it
  • Highlighting, underlining or striking through text when you review a contract or report
  • Removing a page you don't need, or adding a blank page for notes

Good to know

  • How Edit text works: PDFs don't reflow like a word processor. When you change existing text, PearSign covers the original line and places your new text on top. Scanned pages have no text layer, so use Add text (or Whiteout and retype) on scans.
  • Whiteout is not redaction. Covered text is still in the file. Don't use it to hide sensitive information.
  • Basic limits: one PDF, up to 25 MB and 200 pages. Password-protected PDFs aren't supported, so upload an unlocked copy.
  • Signed PDFs: you get an editable copy. Visible signature marks are kept, but digital signatures and certification don't carry over. Your original file isn't changed.
  • Privacy: you edit in your browser. When you finish, the file and your edits are sent to PearSign's servers to build the final PDF. The result is available for one hour, and you can delete it sooner.
  • Account: editing and previewing are free. Downloading needs a PearSign account. The basic allowance includes 5 jobs per hour across all PDF tools.
  • New accounts: signup directs you to a card-required 7-day Starter trial checkout. See pricing and trial terms. The one-hour result window continues during checkout and email verification; if it expires, upload your file again.

FAQ

Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?

Yes, if the page has real text and isn't a scanned image. Choose Edit text and click a line to change it. PearSign covers the original text and places your new text over it in a matching spot.

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

A scan is a picture of a page, so there's no text to select. You can still add new text, images and signatures on top, or use Whiteout to cover something and type over it.

Is this PDF editor free?

Editing and previewing are free. To download the edited PDF you need a PearSign account. The basic allowance permits 5 jobs per hour across all PearSign PDF tools, and downloading the same result again doesn't use another job.

Will my original PDF be changed?

No. PearSign makes a new PDF from your edits. The file on your computer stays exactly as it was.
