Fill in a PDF form and sign it without printing or scanning. Click anywhere on the page to type your name, address or other details, add today's date, and place your signature. You can draw it, type it or upload an image of it. Then download the signed PDF.

How to fill and sign a PDF

  1. Click Choose PDF or drag a PDF into the upload box. The fill-and-sign editor opens.
  2. Choose Add text and click where each answer goes, then type. Use Date to add a date.
  3. Choose Signature. Draw your signature, type your name, or upload a picture of your signature, then place it on the page and resize it.
  4. Add an Image if the form asks for a photo or stamp. Use Edit text to correct text already printed on the page.
  5. Click Finish editing, check the preview, and click Download PDF. You'll need a PearSign account to download. New accounts must verify their email before signing in.

When to use it

  • Signing a lease, permission slip, consent form or job offer someone emailed you
  • Filling in a PDF form that doesn't have clickable fields
  • Adding your signature and date to an invoice, quote or timesheet
  • Completing paperwork on your computer instead of printing, signing and scanning

Good to know

  • You type on top of the page. This tool places text where you click. If the PDF already has fillable fields, their current values are kept as fixed text on the page, and you add your answers with Add text.
  • This is for signing your own document. To collect signatures from other people, with reminders and an audit trail, use PearSign e-signature.
  • Basic limits: one PDF, up to 25 MB and 200 pages. Password-protected PDFs aren't supported.
  • Already-signed PDFs: you get an editable copy. Visible signatures stay, but digital signatures and certification don't carry over.
  • Privacy: you fill and sign in your browser. When you finish, the file and your entries are sent to PearSign's servers to build the final PDF. The result is available for one hour, and you can delete it sooner.
  • Account: filling, signing and previewing are free. Downloading needs a PearSign account (5 jobs per hour with the basic allowance).
  • New accounts: signup directs you to a card-required 7-day Starter trial checkout. See pricing and trial terms. The one-hour result window continues during checkout and email verification; if it expires, upload your file again.
